NYSE Euronext (NYX) reported strong growth in transaction volume across its products and exchanges during the month of July 2008 compared to July 2007. NYSE Euronext’s cash equities and derivatives exchanges in Europe and the U.S. reported their busiest July ever with substantial increases in both total volume and average daily volume across products and geographies.

Global Cash Equities:

* NYSE Euronext's five European cash exchanges traded an average daily volume of 1.56 million transactions1 in July 2008, up 20.8% compared to July 2007. Total monthly cash volume increased 26.3% with 35.8 million transactions compared to the same period in 2007. Additionally, Euronext registered strong growth in ETF transactions, with a monthly increase of 33.7% versus the same period in 2007 as well as a year-to-date increase of 45%.

* NYSE Euronext’s U.S. cash exchanges, the New York Stock Exchange and NYSE Arca, reported a total volume2 increase of 28.0% in July 2008. In July NYSE Euronext’s U.S. exchanges realized gains in total monthly matched share volume across all product categories, including 18.9% for NYSE-listed issues, 112.4% in NYSE Arca and Amex-listed issues, 19.1% in Nasdaq-listed issues and 66.6% in ETFs. Also in July, NYSE Euronext’s U.S. operations achieved a 1.3 percentage point increase in matched market share for Nasdaq-listed issues, which represents a 13.7% increase in matched average daily volume compared to July 2007.

Global Derivatives:

* NYSE Euronext’s derivatives trading operations on Liffe also recorded its busiest July ever, with 78.8 million total futures and options contracts traded during the month, an increase of 8.7% versus the same period in 2007. Additionally, Liffe experienced a year-to-date increase of 22.8% with over 644 million contracts traded.

* Bclear, the Exchange's pioneering trade administration and clearing service, processed more than 11.5 million equity derivatives contracts in July, more than double the number from July 2007. Year-to-date, overall volumes on Bclear are up 62.2% compared to the same period of 2007.

* In July 2008, trading in Liffe’s short-term interest rate (STIR) contracts increased 4.8% while year-to-date, STIRs grew by 31.3%, compared to the same period in 2007.

* Trading in total equity products increased by 14.9% in July 2008 compared to the July 2007. With over 277 million contracts traded year-to-date, total equity products on Liffe increased 16.0% compared to the same period in 2007.

* NYSE Arca Options had the busiest July ever, with average daily volume increasing 51.3% to 1.89 million contracts traded per day in July 2008. Total equity options volume on NYSE Arca rose by 58.5% in July compared to the same month last year.

* NYSE Arca Options captured 12.3% of the trading in all equity options in July 2008 and 13.3% year-to-date --1.4 and 1.3 percentage point increases, respectively.

* For equity options trading in the SEC Penny Pilot program, NYSE Arca Options executed 14.1% of all eligible issues in July 2008 and 15.1% year-to-date.

Global Listings:

* In July, NYSE Euronext’s U.S. markets added eight new listings, including one IPO. NYSE Euronext’s European markets added 12 new listings, which includes three IPOs.

* During July, NYSE listed three structured products while NYSE Arca listed two exchange traded products. Euronext listed 20 new Exchange Traded Funds, bringing the total number of Exchange Traded Products listed on all NYSE Euronext markets to 690.
